Instructor/Tutor for High School and College: Math, Chemistry, Physics, SAT Exams, ACT Exams

Applicant Qualifications:

  • Ability to work in the Peninsula and the South Bay
  • Experience teaching standardized test preparation (SAT, ACT)
  • Experience working with students with learning difficulties (ADD, Dyslexia, etc.)
  • B.S. or Advanced degree from an accredited university
  • Minimum of one year of tutoring and/or teaching experience in Mathematics or Chemistry
  • Ability to build rapport with students, as well as clearly and effectively explain complex topics in simple terms
  • Current California Substitute Teaching Credential or California Teaching Credential

Are you excited about education and the ability to help students understand not only what to learn but also how to learn?

If so, then consider joining the team at South Bay Learning Academy!  We currently have openings for tutoring Middle School, High School and College level students. These are two separate part-time positions, with the potential to be full-time.

Job Descriptions:

    1) Math Tutor: PreAlgebra to AP Calculus (AB and BC).Subject expertise, specifically high school level math (algebra 1 + 2, geometry, calculus, statistics).
    2) Chemistry Tutor: (High School to 2nd year College). Subject expertise in science (biology, chemistry, physics).

    Primary responsibilities:

    • Educational assessment
    • Curriculum planning
    • Engaging in focused one-on-one tutoring sessions
    • Communication with students, parents and teachers
    • Managing your schedule and recording hours billed
    • Submitting regular progress reports
    • Hours vary from 3:00pm – 9:00 pm weekdays and some weekends
    • Pay rate:  $25-$50/hour per session, depending on experience and education.
